The two lauded writers will be joined in conversation by Alexandra Cunningham Cameron, Editor-in-Chief of The Miami Rail.

Alissa Nutting
Alissa is the author of the new novel Made for Love. Her first novel, Tampa, was published in 2013; director Harmony Korine is developing the film version for HBO. She is also the author of the story collection Unclean Jobs for Women and Girls, which will be re-released in a revised and expanded edition for Ecco’s “The Art of The Story” series in 2018. Her writing has appeared in publications such as Tin House, Fence, BOMB, Elle, The New York Times, Conduit, and O: The Oprah Magazine. She is an assistant professor of English at Grinnell College in Iowa.

Dean Bakopoulos
Dean’s first novel, Please Don’t Come Back from the Moon (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt) was a New York Times Notable Book. He co-wrote the screenplay adaptation of the film, which debuted this summer at the LA Film Festival and stars James Franco and Rashida Jones. His second novel, My American Unhappiness (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt), was named one of the year’s best novels by The Chicago Tribune, and his third novel, Summerlong (Ecco/HarperCollins), was an independent bookstore bestseller and is now in development as a feature film. The winner of a Guggenheim Fellowship and two NEAs, Dean is writer-in-residence at Grinnell College in Iowa, and also teaches in the Warren Wilson MFA Program.

Dean & Alissa also co-write the “End it Now” advice column for Catapult magazine.
